HISTORY OF CHOWMAHALLA PALACE

While Salabat Jung initiates its construction in 1750, it had been completed by the time of Afzal ad-Dawlah, Asaf Jah V between 1857 and 1869.

The palace is exclusive for its design and it's high-class. Construction of the palace began within the late eighteenth century and over the decades a synthesis of the many architectural designs and influence appear. The palace consists of two courtyards in addition because of the grand Khilwat (the Darbar Hall), fountains and gardens. A Muslim, Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of here dear wife and queen constructed the Taj Mahal at Agra, India.  The society at the time was very creative and shaped a lot of success and hope for the Indians there.  When Mumtaz Mahal was alive, she took four promises from the ruler:  first, that he will construct the Taj Mahal; second, that he should marry again; third, that he should be caring to their children; and fourth, that he go to the tomb on the death anniversary.  He kept the 1st and 2nd potentials.  The construction began in 1631.  The professional craftsman from Delhi, Qannauj, Lahore, and Multan were working. They constructed the TajMahal over the time of twenty-two years, with the facility of 20,000 labors.  The total amount expended on the lovely and holy monument was 32 million rupees.

Amar Mahal Palace it is in  Jammu is a 19th-century extravagance. This construction was built for Raja Amar Singh who was the king of Dogra. The palatial design differentiates itself from the other palaces built at Jammu by the Dogra kings. It stands the amidst lush green patches and the Meadowlands where the large area has been utilizing for the external beautification of the palace.

AmarMahal was the last residence of the Dogra Kings, SuryavanshiRajputs and later it was residence to Maharani Tara Devi, wife of the late RajaHari Singh. You’ll see rows of the royal family portraits display and they spread here in the hierarchy.

This palace lies on the banks of Tawi River. On the other side is a magnificent Shivalik variety, which completes the panoramic view in front. Eventually, this place was handed over to the Hari Tara Charitable Trust. After the death of  Maharani Tara Devi in 1967, her child Dr. KaranSingh and her wife Mrs. YashoRajya Lakshmi reformed this palace for the use of the museum. The museum was opened on April 13, 1975, by then prime minister of the India Mrs. Indira Gandhi. The objective of establishing this museum was to protect some of the rarest forms of art and literature and they collaborate with other fine arts institutions to the promotion of Indian art and culture. They transferred this royal property to a trust and named it as Hari Tara charitable trust in honor of his parents.
