AmarMahal was the last residence of the Dogra Kings, SuryavanshiRajputs and later it was residence to Maharani Tara Devi, wife of the late
RajaHari Singh. You’ll see rows of the royal family portraits display and they spread here in the hierarchy.
This palace lies on the banks of Tawi River. On the other side is a magnificent Shivalik variety, which completes the panoramic view in front. Tawi River flow through the valley and sounds of this river keep calming your ears. The palace lies the adjacent to well-known heritage Hotel Hari Niwas on the road to Kashmir. Eventually, this place was handed over to the Hari Tara Charitable Trust. They change the museum of the houses to the Dogra-Pahari paintings.

The objective of establishing this museum was to protect some of the rarest forms of art and literature and they collaborate with other fine arts institutions to the promotion of Indian art and culture. They transferred this royal property to a trust and named it as Hari Tara charitable trust in honor of his parents.
